DGFEZ Signs MOU with China-Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone to Promote Mutual Cooperation in Investment Attraction.
Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (DGFEZ, Commissioner Kim Byeong-sam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the China-Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone (Party Secretary Liu Naijun) on June 13 (Friday) to facilitate investment attraction and cooperation between the two regions.
The signing ceremony was also attended by a delegation from Changchun city, led by Vice Mayor Zhang Chunda, and in-depth exchanges were held on ways to collaborate further.
The China-Korea (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, approved by the State Council of China (Central Government) in 2020, is the only state-level demonstration zone for cooperation between South Korea and China. It serves as an international cooperation platform for both the two countries and the Northeast Asia region, extending its reach to the global market.
Currently, there are more than 20 industrial parks within the demonstration zone, including clusters for medical devices, health food, and the digital economy, with 21 Korean companies currently engaged in active business operations there. TMS Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of optical display adhesives, stands out as a representative Korean enterprise in the zone.
Through this MOU, both organizations agreed to promote investment attraction from companies, pursue industrial exchanges in a range of sectors including advanced equipment manufacturing, optoelectronics, high-tech medical devices, and health care and continue their exchanges at a working level.
Kim Byeong-sam, Commissioner of DGFEZ, stated, “DGFEZ is also making vigorous efforts to attract Chinese companies by participating in biotechnology and future mobility-related exhibitions. This aligns well with the key industries of Changchun, which is expected to create synergy for both parties.”
He further added, “With the signing of this MOU, DGFEZ will spare no effort to provide continued support to enable the two organizations to produce substantial outcomes in their investment attraction and industrial exchanges.”
