On September 2, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (DGFEZ) hosted the “2025 DGFEZ Bio Scale-Up Seminar” at the Pohang Technopark. The event brought together over 100 participants from academia, industry, research institutes, government, and hospitals to share the latest trends in bio technology and promote innovation-driven growth.
A key highlight was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among six institutions—including DGFEZ, Pohang City, Pohang Technopark, Chilgok Kyungpook National University Hospital, S-Pohang Hospital, and the Pohang Bio Industry Association—to strengthen regional collaboration and activate clinical trials. This agreement is expected to provide a solid institutional foundation for bio companies to work closely with universities, hospitals, and research centers in drug development and clinical testing.
The seminar featured presentations on digital bio technologies, investment trends, and new drug development, offering insights into the future of the bio industry.
Commissioner Kim Byeong-sam emphasized that the event marked a meaningful step toward enhancing the competitiveness of resident companies and positioning Pohang as a full-cycle bio innovation hub. He added that DGFEZ will continue to lead efforts in generating future value through digital bio technologies.
