DGFEZ held the ‘DGFEZ TOP Academy’ online event via Zoom on September 16 (Thu) to understand metaverse technology, which has recently gained momentum, and to examine possible strategies to utilize such technology. 
 
 ‘DGFEZ TOP Academy’ was a training program to enhance the skills of the employees of an organization and help induce investment. This program was provided online without any in-person contact in compliance with COVID-19 safety rules so that all employees could participate in the program.
 
 The program focused on utilizing metaverse technologies in the public sector, and aimed at examining how to utilize such new technology in public administration and investment inducement.
 Metaverse is a compound word, where ‘meta’ means transcendence, and ‘verse’ is from “universe,” meaning that the boundary between the virtual world and the real world becomes blurred, and real life can be lived even in the virtual world.
 
 Professor Sangyoon Kim of Chung-Ang University, who was also invited to the event gave a lecture titled, “The Combination of the Virtual and the Real - the Metaverse Revolution,” which covered the definition of metaverse technology and cases in which metaverse technology was being used in many fields of the world, and was followed by a real-time Q&A session.
 
 Mr. Sam Ryong Choi, the commissioner of DGFEZ, said that “the demand for virtual world technology is increasing rapidly during the pandemic,” and added that “many companies and related organizations are interested in networking through virtual spaces by using metaverse technology. Therefore, it is expected of our organization to find various strategies to enhance administrative efficiency.”
 
 DGFEZ plans to provide its employees with a variety of training courses through the TOP Academy in line with the latest trends, so that the employees may enhance their skills to induce investment and find directions for new strategies that can further attract investment.
