Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority has started to supply the knowledge-based industrial facilities land of Suseong Medical District in the area of 1,227,790㎡ which is being built in Daeheung-dong, Suseong-gu.
Promoting the site renovation projects starting in 2014 in earnest, it began to supply distribution commercial facilities land and apartment housing land, and in 2015 it supplied commercial facilities land and housing construction land and, from this year on, it is to supply industrial research facilities to construct the SW fusion cluster which is the core industrial facilities in this district.
Eleven pieces (13,016㎡) of land out of a total of 80 pieces of land that are to be supplied this time have been applied for by 33 enterprises showing the competition rate of 3 to 1 on average, and 7 enterprises were finally selected.
DGFEZ commissioner Gun-woo Do said, “Suseong Medical District has very big growth potentials since it is the business district closest to the big city’s downtown among the free economic zones in S.Korea and is supported by diverse infrastructures such as Daegu Stadium, a baseball park, an art museum, and the superior traffic conditions including Suseong IC and the urban railway Line No.2, and it is expected to be developed into Korea’s best SW fusion cluster through the clustering of IT and SW enterprises.”
In the meantime, Lotte Asset Development which earlier bought the distribution commercial facilities land (77,049㎡) plans to start construction of shopping complex, and Donghwa Housing which was awarded the apartment housing land (42,082㎡) plans to sell approximately 700 apartment houses during the first half of this year.
In the medical facilities land whose area is 82,810㎡, Georgetown University, Integrated Medical School proceeds to make preparations, aiming to open in 2018, and currently active negotiations with foreign investors are under way to build the medical tourist complex to attract foreign medical tourists as part of the “Medicity Daegu” project.
