Daicel Safety Systems held a groundbreaking ceremony to build an air bag inflator factory in the Yeongcheon High-tech Components and Materials Industrial Park located in Gyeongbuk Province. The company signed an MOU with the Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority on November 24, 2011 and became the first foreign-invested manufacturer to step into the free economic zone. The company's actual production is expected to kick off in May 2013. The annual capacity is planned at 7.2 million units.
