Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Lee Inseon) on October 29 invited representatives of five foreign investment companies that had moved to Yeongcheon District to a round-table conference it held on development of resident companies and vitalization of the free economic zone.

The meeting for the day included representatives of the foreign investment companies and Commissioner Lee Inseon as well as vice-mayor of Yeongcheon for a total of 15 present, providing a space for communication about issues such as corporate difficulties and suggestions for areas where the system could be improved.

There are nine foreign investment companies that have set up in Yeongcheon District with sales of KRW 177.6 billion and 776 employees, and they play a role by incorporating the advanced technology of each company to support the local economy through the promotion of shared effects between related industries.

Since its reorganization in March 2018, 'DGFEZ' has been promoting investment attraction and support for tenant companies, held a company support smart factory briefing session and round table in May in Gumchang Co., and this December intends to participate in the Shanghai Auto Parts Exhibition.

A variety of opinions were presented at the round table for that day, including implementation of the 52-hour work week, the lack of welfare facilities in the district, accessibility issues, and the lack of incentives.
Within 'DGFEZ', issues such as difficulties and system improvements were divided into short-, mid-, and long-term tasks, to which it intends to actively respond through cooperation and suggestions from related organizations.

'DGFEZ', seeing importance not just in investment attraction but also in aftercare for foreign companies unfamiliar with the laws, norms and procedures in Korea, is endeavoring to support these foreign investment companies to resolve the difficulties they face in the country.
